Just starting out in woodturning or are you an experienced turner looking for a club in the Nottingham / Derby area to join? Erewash Valley Woodturners is a lively and friendly club that encourages new members. Come along to one of our Wednesday evening meetings and see for yourself what we have to offer.

Just send us an email by clicking on ‘Contact Us‘ and we will get back to you. You will be made very welcome.

We meet twice a month on Wednesday evenings at St Mary’s Church Hall at Greasley. A few months in the year, such as December, we only meet once.

What do we Offer to Members

We hold regular hands-on evenings with tuition where we have three lathes for members to use.

We have demonstrations by professional turners.

We have competitions twice a year for both novice and experienced turners.

Attendance and turning demonstrations at various events throughout the year, such as Cromford Steam Rally and Newark County Show; selling items we make to raise funds for our chosen charity.

On many club nights turning supplies are for sale including, but not limited to abrasives and finishes

The meetings are very well supported and there are two cameras relaying pictures to a large screen via a projector (supplied by the Lottery Awards for All) together with a remote sound system to ensure that everyone has a good view and can hear the demonstrator’s commentary.

Past demonstrators include Jason Breach, Tony Wilson, Guy Ravine, Margaret Garrad, Mick Hanbury as well as Pyrography by Bob Neill. We also have some very talented members who give demonstrations sharing their experience and expertise with the other members.

Full details of this year’s demonstrations and competitions can be found on the ‘What’s on’ page.

EVWA woodturners stall, with lathe and examples of wood turned items.
